Sydney Chisenga is the Managing Partner at Corpus Legal Practitioners which is an award winning, full services corporate and commercial law Firm in Lusaka. He also leads the Dispute Resolution and Public Policy Department which includes the Competition and TMT Practice Groups.
With a prestigious recognition by The Chambers Global 2022 in Band 3 General Business Law – Dispute Resolution, Sydney is considered an expert in Zambian and African competition law. He is also listed as a competition law expert in Zambia by the World Bank Global Competition Group and the COMESA Competition Commission. An avid contributor of articles on Data Protection and ICT law, Merger Control in the “Getting the Deal Through” publication as well as the “Doing Business” annual publication by the World Bank, Sydney is also an African Regional Forum Liaison Officer of the Antitrust section of the International Bar Association and is also a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. Currently, Sydney is an Assessor of Superior Courts Civil Procedure at the Zambia Institute of Advanced Legal Education (ZIALE).
With 18 years of practice, Sydney represents and acts for clients in commercial claims. He has led and handled high level commercial litigation cases which include high-profile tax disputes, class actions and other major regulatory litigation as well as claims.
Sydney holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Zambia and a Master of Laws degree in Commercial Law with specializations in Banking, Competition, and Insolvency laws from the University of South Africa. Sydney is also an Arbitrator and a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. Sydney is highly specialized in Litigation, Arbitration, TMT and Competition Law and General Business Law and has frequently spoken on competition law to a variety of fora.
